A Recap of September Here at the Alpine Nursing Home
The residents started off the month of September soaking in the last few weeks of Summer by building their own sandcastles during a beach-themed “Sensory Circle.” We were fortunate to have good weather on our side.
Kinetic sand, Orbeez, plastic molds/sea creatures, and water buckets were enjoyed by all.
September – A Time for Being Outdoors
Before the cool air took over, the residents all spent as much time outside as possible, admiring the garden and butterflies while chatting and having snacks with family and friends. Everyone looked forward to going outside and viewing the colorful garden at the Alpine Nursing Home.
Before the first day of Fall, the residents decorated Fall-themed hats with leaves, pumpkins, flowers, and more! They had a great time choosing their decorations and arranging them on their hats.
It was one of our most fun activities!
Exercise Too
To get some exercise in on the cooler days, the residents participated in the 2nd installment of The Alpine Olympics.
The Alpine Olympics consisted of three events: balloon volleyball, paper plate frisbee, and a water balloon toss. Everyone did amazing and our 3 victors showcased their athletic skills with pride.
National Potato Day
A belated National Potato Day was also celebrated this month by doing a Mr. Potato Head craft.
The residents colored and constructed their own Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads, acting silly and reminiscing about childhood toys.
Pajama Party Day
To end the month, we had our September Pajama Birthday Party! Staff, residents, and visitors were all welcome to wear their pajamas for the entire day! The residents enjoyed party games, birthday cake from Borrelli’s Pastry Shop, and Birthday Present Bingo.
Overall, we here at Alpine had a wonderful September and look forward to more Fall and Halloween-themed activities this October with everyone being safe and healthy.
