National Nursing Home Week 2021
National Nursing Home Week begins Sunday, May 9th through Saturday, May 15th. Here is the list of how we at the Alpine Nursing Home will celebrate it this year after missing it last year, due to the pandemic.
First Day of Nursing Home Week – Sunday, May 9th
Family visits begin at 10 am with all moms receiving a beautiful flower. Next, brunch for lunch will include waffles, fresh strawberries with whipped cream.
Rosary & Spiritual Music will follow at 1 pm and then the residents will receive a dessert cart to choose their favorite dessert around 2:30.
Ending the day at 3:30 with bingo and prizes for the winners.
We wish all the mothers a very Happy Mothers’ Day!
Monday, May 10th – Fun Pajama Day
At the Alpine Nursing Home on Monday, you can wear your favorite pajamas. (Please be appropriate)
Judy Hall Music (Outdoors—Weather Permitting) will be happening at 10:30 a.m. followed by a pizza party for lunch. Who doesn’t love a good pizza? And of course, ending with some ice cream for the residents. We do love spoiling them every day!
Pajama Party & Group Photos will be taking around 2:30 on this fun pajama day.
Lastly, popcorn & a movie (resident choice) will begin at 6 p.m. as many of our residents do retire early for the evening.
Tuesday, May 11th – Staff Appreciation day
After the past year and a half here we really do appreciate all our staff has done. They have gone above and beyond throughout the pandemic. We can’t thank them enough.
Therefore, we will be providing snacks throughout the day in our break room.
Then, we will be honoring our staff at 10:30 with awards.
Following at 12:00 noon will be a special staff luncheon.
The festivities end at 2:30 with Ken Huffman Music (Outdoors: Weather Permitting, of course).
Wednesday, May 12th – Country and Western Day
Many of our residents love country music and we will have Mike Coletta Live Music (Outdoors-weather permitting) at 10:30 a.m.
A BBQ luncheon will follow at noon followed by a tasty Doughboy Cart!
To work off all the great food we will have a Line Dancing Party at 2:30 and end the day with Bingo with Jen.
Thursday, May 13th – Sock and Hop for Nursing Home Week
Starting at 10:30 a.m. we will play remember when with the residents? It’s a lot of fun for them and us!
Following at 12 noon a luncheon for the Alpine nursing home residents. Then, following lunch, we will have a hula hoop contest bring us lots of laughs and good exercise.
The Silver Top Quartet (Outdoors-weather permitting) will perform at 2:30.
Finally, we end with 1950’s Trivia at 6 pm which the residents enjoy and some of the staff learn a lot from them.
Friday, May 14th – Patriotism Unites Us
We begin at 10:30 a.m. honoring our veterans at the Alpine Nursing Home. We then follow with an All-American Luncheon at noon.
We can’t resist a Flag Cake Cart after lunch for the residents.
At 2:30 we have a Patriotic Sing-A-Long for everyone to enjoy.
We end the day at 6 with a Patriotic Craft event for all.
Saturday, May 15 – Crazy Day to End National Nursing Home Week
Crazy Bingo will start the day off at 10 10:30 followed by lunch and family visitation starts.
Activity Tables will be available at 2:30 for the residents to enjoy!
